I just don't really spend any time worrying that the newest camera will make Joe Blo be able to create a great image, or give him a personality (which sells WAY better than good photos do).
I think we should spend time honing our craft instead of worrying about the cool new cameras.

Part of honing your craft is understanding your tools - a constant cataloging of the deficiencies and advantages of your equipment. I agree that too many of us get caught up in the gear-head mentality - but to dismiss any care or worry about tools is a disingenuous position.
Evan and I had a discussion the other day about AF-points and how image composition can be affected by the restraints of their positions. There is a large difference in AF point availability and placement between the 1D, the 1DS, the 5D and the X0Ds - to neglect investigation into these mechanical subtleties is to miss areas of improvement in your craft.
