Beautiful series. I'm a sucker for dusky shots at the "magic" hour - thus #3 really speaks to me - eerie and lovely.

Hi Martin
Eilean Donan! Nicely done, all three. Can never tire of looking at Eilean Donan castle though i havent been able to visit it. Some day maybe ...

Just wondering what might be the white line on the right of the castle in #3?

#3 for me too.

Thanks, Bob: glad you enjoyed them.

Very, very cool! I love the images.

They make me wonder how people knew, or learned to build structures like that (I know it is way evolved), or the Anasazi over here. Was it just hard wired genetically in the beginning?

Hi Craig.

Glad you enjoyed these. I expect it all started with upgrading your cave and then making it enemy-proof. Took a very long time of course; and if you look at some of the cathedrals of medieval times (some took 100 years to complete), a hell of a lot of planning must have taken place, as well as lots of artisanal skills in the shaping of the stones.

oh man , this might be some of the strongest work i have seen from you Martin, just excellent ! the last with the deep blues is very well done man

Hey thanks dude!! I'm very pleased at how the last one came out.

These are excellent, Martin. Breathtaking shots.

I love the wonderful vista in the first, the colors and textures of the second and the incredible drama in the last. Awesome!

Sharon

Hello, Sharon.

At first I was disappointed at the overcast weather, although we did sea some detail in the clouds. We had hoped for a nice sunset like we had had the night before at Loch Etive.............but it was not to be; so it was a great bonus when the floodlights we had'nt noticed started painting the buildings with colour.

Exiting series here, Martin. All three unique views. Love em all!

Thanks for sharing. Would love to put these on my list of must-see locations as well.

Thanks a lot Al. One of these days.....................you never know!

Stunning shots. The comps are, well, incomparable. Incredible clarity. That last shot would be a winner even without the castle.

Thanks Tim. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Very beautiful shots Martin!

Thanks for commenting. Scotland really has a fantastic landscape and some real history to go with it. The highlands are dotted with castles - mostly much smaller than this example.

They are all superb! But #3 is absolutly special! You need to get that printed, What a killer shot! Great composition, balance, and color!

I have been thinking about going to Norway this year, I may change my mind.

Leon

Hi Leon. Norway is a beautiful country too, I'm told. Why not do both? I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. I was concerned after chimping that 3rd, on the spot, that I wouldn't have a saveable shot. It just shows not to go by first impressions, especially on a miniscule screen!

Chaz.

Thanks for that. This is actually a night shot in full dark and it works, I think, because of the lack of detail in the land and the sort of blue silhouette of the loch and mountains.

Hey Jehanzeb.

Thank you for the compliment and I'm glad you liked them. I couldn't get the classic view of the castle here, as the famous arches were covered with scaffolding and had diggers and things on them so I had to hunt around for different takes on the old beauty.

Hope you do get the chance to visit - you can't miss it - just take the A 82 out of glasgow and then the A87 which passes it. Thanks for pointing out the white mark, which I did notice as I posted. I thought it was a jpeg artifact, but found it on the RAW. It might have been an issue of the lens, which was damaged when tripod and camera were blown over in a gale. The front cracked and the sealing ring and the element were exposed - though I managed to use it for the rest of the trip - but I don't know how any light could have got in as there was so little!

I've cloned it out now - I just thought it would be unnoticed!! Sharpeyes!

Hi Binh.

Glad you enjoyed it. I was worried about that exposure and was delighted it came out!

Very nice series, Martin. The last one with the blue tones and lit up castle does it for me. Nice work.
