Recently mom had to put dad into a care facility because she can't take care of him anymore. Its a sad situation but one that needed to be done.
While we were there this last week during Christmas I couldn't help but notice that many, many of the people in the facility had no family visiting them.
It was very sad to see so many people alone on Christmas.
My wife conducted a chamber music concert at a veterans' retirement home recently, and it seemed that almost no one else had been paying any attention to them. People shouldn't be forgotten at any time, but they certainly feel it the most when they know that the bulk of society is out celebrating.
Your photo gives the feeling of this situation even without your explanation. Good entry.
Aww, that is so sad, but true! My church regularly ministers at a nearby nursing home, and we were asked to visit several people there that no-one comes to visit! Your photo definitely evokes emotion...
Yes, Christmas is not joyfully anticipated by all. For some there are mixed emotions of anticipation and trepidation, for others, it is a sad joyless reminder of all they don't have or have lost.
With so many struggling this winter with job loss, illness and hunger, this was very much on my mind during the holiday season.
