Hey everyone, this is Jared, the creator of ProPhoto.
I'm going to try to check in here from time to time, so if anyone has any questions or comments or suggestions about the ProPhoto blog theme, let me know!
Wow -- I seriously need to update my blog. But I need a pro smugmug account first. Like, this month. Now, if I already have a wordpress blog -- how hard is it to switch the theme? Could I simply purchase the theme (in a few months, when money isn't as tight) and then change it fairly easily?
I thought that I could get by with the $30 tofurious theme. Then I wanted to simply move the menu bar. I've got it moved but it's not dropping down properly. I have now been spending hours and hours messing with CSS and have found that CSS support forums for wordpress are not as great as the digital grin smugmug forum. I'm stuck and about to just pay for the prophoto theme. Just posting this to say that it's probably worth it to go with the prophoto right out of the gate. I have images that I could be editing, phone calls i could be making, spending time with my kids etc. etc.
By the time you read this the link will probably be a prophoto theme site. If you click it soon you can see the busted menu bar i've been struggling with for 7 hours. http://blog.infocusnyc.com
I found this a few days ago, and I'm very interested. Has anyone considered abandoning your standard website for a blogsite like Jessica Claire's. I understand that you could probably buy a car for what she paid, but the ProPhoto2 theme looks pretty robust. There are probably plug-ins or add-ons or other bolt ons to further strengthen ProPhoto2 as a main site.

Infinet is the company that designed Claire's. They're local to me. I don't want to quote their prices in a public forum, but while they are certainly not cheap, you couldn't even buy a motorcyle for what it would cost.
damn you. damn all of you. this thread is making me grumpy.
i almost pulled the trigger on the prophoto blog at the wppi booth (they were delightful and i'm already sold on the product) but then, i didnt. i've been on the site with the intention of purchasing several times since then... but did i? nope.
why? because i am officially the world's worst (laziest, procrastinatingest) blogger ever.
seriously.
ever.
and if i actually pay for the darn thing i'll feel guilty and have to actually start blogging! UGH.
you know what? people are hiring outside companies to do their color correction, and their editing, and their album design and on and on... i've just had an epiphany.
i'm going to start a trend and say "SCREW YOU BLOGGING! i'm outsourcing my blog writing responsibilities to some dark, dank, child-labor driven widgetastic bloggerific blog factory slash sweatshop in guam!"
hmph. freaking blogging.

(ps. yes, kids. there are magical blog sweatshops in guam. how do you think the mammoth men do it?)

I didn't say a new car. Her site is awesome, but I'm wondering what can be done with WP and a few bolt-ons/CSS. It would probably be well worth the money if I sold my motorcycle to buy a custom blogsite, but I'm not as emotionally attached to my website.
Can someone tell me what happen to the old stuff that was done with the old theme? Specifically, all the images were much smaller size then the current size?
