If you're at a point in your life, where you need to charge/advance the money to get 100-200 back in 60-90 days, you shouldn't be making the purchase.
Well, yeah. So?
I'd much rather save the money off the body and buy a couple of cards, or whatever.
The early samples are not encouraging ~ still has most of the wee issues we'd have expected Canon to have tweaked out ~ apparently ~ I've a fantastic offer on one next week ~ but I'm getting to the stage that i want to be paid to be using a new Canon camera now.

FWIW, the 5D MKii at $2700 will support 5D values of $1300 imo. There are plenty of people who are waiting for the 5D prices to drop but I think there will be consistent demand for them as well. The 5D is such a great camera, I will really have to wait and see about the MKII as canon's recent new bodies have not been as wonderful as most have thought....

Can't understand why someone jazzed about the idea of owning a 5D would hold off indefinitely in the hope of paying a couple hundred dollars less. At what point do you pull the trigger and how do you decide? Wait another 18 months and 'save' even more.... Is there no value placed on owning and using the camera?
First who said anything about indefinitely? Whats there hard to understand?Either you have enough money or you don't.Lower prices would make it possible for me to acquire this fine camera sooner rather than later. Yes i am "jazzed" about the 5D i am sold on it, i will pull the trigger as soon as 'the gun' is loaded, that is with enough cash to buy one!!
I am thinking that starting this thread may have shot me in the foot, all those with 5Ds are being reminded of what a fine camera they have.come on guys let em go.

I'm holding onto my 5D. I really can't afford the 5DII at this point, and I have no reason to upgrade. I'm completely happy with my 5D/40D combination.

Jim: Fair enough. Here's hoping your budget intersects with the going rate sooner rather than later.
I sold my 5D for $1300. The buyer and I used cash back, so he paid $1100. The camera had about 10,000 exposures and was in great shape. I sold it because I am upgrading to a 5DMK2. It will make a great pair with my 1DMK2.
Regarding cash back, I have used it several times. No complaints. Microsoft's money is good.
