though it was also interesting to note just how much heavier Nikon gear is than Canon gear! The D3 with a 70-200 on it is almost the same weight as the 1D III with a 500 on it!!

Actually, the Nikon combo above is about 40% lighter. A D3 with 70-200 is about 6 lbs. The 500/4L IS alone is 8.5 lbs (the 500/4.5 is 6.6 lbs). The mkIII is 42.5 oz. (which is only 1.2 ounces less than a D3). The D3 battery is listed at 4oz the Canon at 6.

When you are this wrong about the weight and still stick to your story It say a lot about the rest of your reveiw also. I wouldn't thrust anything in it

I totally agree. Surprising these folks can't feel such a huge difference in weight. And telling us that stuff which should be roughly twice as heavy is actually light? Come on. No wonder they have AF issues with their 50d.

I shoot with 1dmk2 and 500mm f4 IS, lot of times hand held and I also have 300mmf 2.8 IS. The weight difference is big IMHO. And I have tried D3 and 300mm f2.8 non VR.

...of course, a lot of this would be made more substantial with photos to show exactly what the visible problems were

I do agree with ModBoyzz though, it seems there is a lot of resistance by CANON users to accept less than par equipment...
