...after dodging the constant rain and fog and general misery for several days, Barry (Hamilton), Carlo (Didier) and myself finally found some sunshine.... and in the perfect spot - glorious Glen Etive in the Scottish Highlands. Here is a taster from my new laptop, courtesy of the wi-fi connection at the Aultbea hotel, where we now are (resplendent after seafood and a nice single malt). This is the end of a glorious afternoon at the bottom of the glen; with a view of the Loch and part of the ruined jetty.
Beautiful , Martin . You guys deserve a break after our most recent week of grey gloom . I'm looking forward to more masterpieces from you all in your mellow malted state !
Just a super image. No doubt the company (and maybe the single malt ) gets part of the credit, but that's only fair. Looking forward to rest of the trip.
Great shot Martin, that incredible reflection dominates the images to the point that sky itself could be cropped a bit. Who needs the sky when you have such a beautiful mirror like image. Regardless, either way a splendid shot!
Hi Martin, awesome colours and clarity in this very enjoyable view! And although I agree with mooch about the post breaking the horizon, it along with the expansive scene and distant peaks peeking out through the valley all give this a marvelous sense of depth and 3d quality. You three be sure to have a drink on me!
Super Martin! As I told Carlo, I'm so happy you guys are having a great time! This is a wonderful image, the colors the reflections, and then the way you broke up the harmony with the log is brilliant, super compo my friend.

Thanks Wayne.
There was a gorgeous reflection all the way down the Loch - we were lucky to experience it!

Lovely light and worth the wait. Paul
Hi Paul.
I think we deserved it - as we had been rained on so much in the previous days!

Great comp, Martin! That day alone would have been worth the whole trip... What a lovely light we had!
Agreed, Carlo. That one afternoon made it all worthwhile. I look forward to your takes on this.

Good shot , but IMO could have been improved with a higher POV so the post(?) wasn't breaking the horizon . Nice colour and reflection Martin
Thanks for commenting Mooch.
Glad you like it, although I can't agree about the post. I deliberately broke the "rule" to which you refer; and the picture has come out exactly as I envisaged, with the boldness of the post being the key to the composition.

Thanks Adrian.
I'm back home now after a near disaster of the Alfa breaking down in Aulbea! Barry is at home too and, with the number of shutter firings I heard, I imagine that there will be a flood of Scottish pics soon!

Hello Hugh.
We had a super trip, with just enough decent breaks in the weather to keep us interested. The best was here in Glen Etive, though.

That reflection is just killer. Nice capture.

Hey Jim.
Glad you liked it. The light all the way down this glen was wonderful, but the view of the Loch at the bottom was the best I have ever seen it, with the smooth water and great reflection - and some actual sun!
