but for a manual focus lens this should not be a problem, right?
I mean, you set up the focus first for the required dof and rotate the filter as required/taste. Or am I missing something? I thought this was an issue with the AF lenses with rotating front barrel.
GNDs are no problem for me, I hand hold them anyway.
You are correct, that's why I don't find it an issue,
except when doing a mix of close up work and distant scenes/landscapes,
in which case you'd be moving the focus ring and also the polarizer
for each shot.
