Check out UZeWork post on it. Les is an old timer here on Fm and can give good info on your BIF with the new 50D. I think you will find it like the 20D and 30D and 40D and that being to use the center sensor for tracking. Good luck with it.

Thanks Lou, I am indeed following Les's post. First thing I did when setting up the cam was to go to center sensor And, if I ever have to clean the sensor I'm gonna be ringing you up to get the low down on the how to
Disclaimer: The above statement regarding sensor cleaning was in no way meant to upset or otherwise cause discomfort to the great conservator Lou Ibuscher whom I have so much respect for I'm running out of places to put it.

Not to worry Tom as Copper Hill saved the day. I don't know why they put that dam thing in there anyway.

Hi Tom and thanks for taking the trouble to email me the full sized JPG file. Yep that is an impressive image, sharp at 100% size.
I was somewhat skeptical how good the 50D sharpness would show up on a full sized image from the 50D. Also, felt that only the good L prime lenses would have sufficient resolution to support this big image size. Your image taken with the 500L is a good example indeed of what is possible with the 50D/500L combination. Now we can really shoot the birds from slightly more distance and still get meaningful crops.

Hi Mike Thank you very much for the compliment, work is getting in the way of more testing the past couple days but I will be out this weekend to give it a better workout.

My pleasure Mohammed, glad you found it interesting I agree about the crops there seems to be alot more information in the image compared to the 40D.
