What is for sure that once the rush is over the price will drop...only people who can't understand the current financial meltdown will believe otherwise...

ofcourse. But it is fun to have the latest toy right away and only do so if you can afford it.

Over here (The Netherlands) it went from 1399,00 euros to 1349,00 euros before it even was in store... When it did hit the shelves prices kept falling... To its current level of about 1150,00 euros. But once it becomes available through the smaller resellers, I expect the prices will go down to 1050,00 euros this month.

it here. First impression: i like it. I don't think it will have major upgrade over the 40D but since i use this mostly for birding, i don't pay attention to low iso. Huge LCD with better resolution.

This will be typical..dealers will hold out for the max price to milk the gear geeks.....then expect a quick drop as they scramble to attract the cost conscious photographers who may or may not upgrade...depending on whether the enhancements are worth the additional finance...
Hell...some photographers might think a (cheaper) s/h 5D is a better proposition (as they fall in price thanks to the mk2 model!!
