What fabulous work. Natural talent + hard work (no doubt) = kick butt success.
I agree with the previous comment about how everyone looks like rock stars, but I also very much appreciate how you make every location look so special and dramatic. You are breaking rules and that's fantastic.
Man, there are soo many awesome shots, it's stupid to try and pick something out to comment on...
But, the simplicity of this one just stuck with me. Love it.
#1 in the last set is pretty effin' rediculous too.
location: oahu hawaii - laie lookout point
event: aftershoot
special thanks to: monica for holding the lightstick
wow!!! it's ben a long time since i've posted here on FM. i will continue to share my journey with photography here, specifically in this thread. things have been rather crazy to say the least between these past 2 months.
we've been doing some major traveling and as a result, got sick and got a 104 degree fever, got sick as a dog and got behind with work, albums and everything in life. we've been playing catch-up ever since. =)
these photos from hawaii are special to me primarily because of the couple. i've shot their e-session, wedding, family and now their aftershoot. they aren't models but depending on how you pose them, they very much can be.
please kindly enjoy the photos and if anyboy has any question, please feel free to ask. i will be more than happy to share some of my limited knowledge.
Ed, can you please, pretty please, share you PP on the sky in that first shot of your last post....i'm just in awe, your work keeps getting better & better and you will soon be one of the top 10 in the world...as far as I see, you already are. just freaking outstanding....the clarity is freaking outstanding, the colour is freaking outstaanding...geez..
ahhhh... while i can't explain exactly how i did it, i will however share what can be share in order to push you forward.
processing the skies:
basically what you do is go to hawaii so you can have totally awesome skies to play with. just kidding... any skies with clouds will do. though i recommend storm clouds most for the best effect. then after capturing them @ f/13-22 then you simply play with the saturation along with contrast. have you ever heard of "advance masking" in our adobe software?
you are using adobe software, aren't you? =)
adjust to taste and sooner or later, you'll get "ed pingol skies". we've created custom actions to help us go through this process rather quickly. which is another thing i recommend reading more into... how to work actions.
On top of all your other amazing talents, you are a hero to "non-Barbie" women everywhere. Her posture, her freedom, her glorious beauty in that last shot is really wonderful. Whatever your approach to rapport and coaching, it is clearly one of your greatest assets.

+1... I agree. Your ability to work with clients and to coach them is top notch.
Suzi, In ancient Hawaiian culture having a big body mass was a sign of status, it meant you had mana. A lot of Hawaiians are big like that - and proud. You should see the traditional Hawaiian hula, hula kahiko. The women look very powerful. It's awesome to witness.
And Ed, you really did a great job with this couple.
Brian, Yeah, I actually had that in mind when I was posting to Ed.Didn't quite know how to bring up the cultural history. You did it great I LOVE the islands.
