I really like this picture Yakim!
The lighting and shape of the coil with its multiple repetitions and the silver, gold and rust coloring really add a great 3D effect to the picture
You might want to clone out the two tiny pieces of resin(?) near the center.
Yakim, this is superb! I don't mind the bits of "detritus" on various parts of its body. They help keep the look "real",
at the same time that it has some of the look of an artificial mechanical structure (which is part of the charm).
I've enjoyed reading about the genetic mechanisms involved in formation of body structures with multiple segments,
which makes it all the more fun to see such a great example, and a fine work of art.
Thanks for all the positive remarks. After shooting it I was a bit sorry that I had to use flash (I prefer natural light) and that the debris was so evident. However, I did not have many choices. Light was scarce, deadline was near (10 minutes to shoot, 5 minutes to choose the pic, 1 minute to crop and sharpen) and I just had to "get the shot". I am very surprised (and obviously, very glad) to see that despite these deficiencies, it still came out rather good in your eyes.
BTW, about removing the debris in PP, I would have done it but I don't know how. All I know in PP is to crop, sharpen and remove noise (DPP).
Many thanks Steve. Maybe it's because I took the flash to the side, used FEC-1 and a diffuser. I wanted to lessen it's effect. In any case, I am very happy to see that it has not ruined the pic and even add some "flavor" to it. You see, I am far from being a flash expert so I was very nervous.
Much obliged Bruce. I must admit that after looking again at the texture and lighting I see an alien as well. It's funny how you think of one thing and then another person makes you see other things as well. I like it.
BTW, my original inspiration came from the Ammonite fossils.
Very interesting shot, Yakim. I find the longer I look it - the more I like it. FM has helped me appreciate photos of insects and little critters, etc. -- Coming from a female, that's saying a lot!
