We moved in back in January... but our ribbon cutting was today. So we got a lot of the little jobs that have been hanging over our head done in time for the ceremony. It was neat having the Mayor and city council people and other Chamber members come to show their support... but it was especially nice to see all of my family and friends turn out for it. I bawled like a baby during my remarks to the crowd... mostly because I was just to overcome by the reality of it all. I was "just a stay-at-home mom" for so many years. I never thought this could happen. But I'm awfully glad it has.
Follow me to the side of the building for a closer look at the window that showcases what we offer...
This doesn't actually allow you to view through it into the studio... it's been walled up on the inside.
I love my chandelier... and see my awesome window display? It's two-sided... of course, one of the
images is missing because it hasn't actually arrived here yet. But it'll get here tomorrow! Didn't want you to wait.

absolutely beautiful - you really thought of every detail!
the 30x40 frames are gorgeous! i'd love them for my gallery show in early september. mind sharing where you got them?
congratulations mel - well deserved!
We had them cut. It's two pieces of Lexan (sort of a plexi glass that's more scratch-resistant) and then the non-mounted print is sandwiched between them and held together with bolts that you can get at Lowe's. That's actually what the front window is, too... but we would do things differently if we did it all over again. I love the look, but it's difficult to keep clean because the sides of the Lexan don't completely meet all up and down the side... so dust can get in rather easily.
Thanks, everyone!!! We are amazingly happy with the space... but I still feel like a kid playing games... and someone real grown up will come along and tell me I'm not suppose to have this.
Congrats, it is jaw dropping gorgeous. I really like the way you told the story. I'm sure you will have many many hours of editing ahead from all the clients that will be coming your way with that set up.
Truly amazing Mel! I am quite jealous, but maybe one day when I can afford it and quit teaching High School I can pull something off like that! Gorgeous space.
Absolutely stunning! It's even more than I imagined, and between your photography and sense of style, I did imagine it as wonderful. Congratulations, Melanie!
