Wow! Jim, my friend! What a bizarre, fascinating, and wonderful effect! That would make a great cover photo for some New Age magazine or book. I love it. Is the beautiful model related to you? Great work - as always!

Thank you Endre. I had many thoughts running through my mind in this image. The title is from Genesis 1:16, and I thought of St Gauden's reverse of the old US $20 dollar gold coin. I also was thinking of how everything from helium on up the periodic table was created in the death of an exploding star. How the sand, water, air...virtually everything in this image is star dust. The model is my daughter - who humors me with her cooperation for a ride to the beach. I shot other ideas as well...my son as Atlas with the sun on his back...spinning the sun on his finger tip like a basketball etc. It was a fun shoot.

I love your shot and it is very interesting, your model, your daughter is very lovely and makes the shot work for you. I would like to know if the starburst was added afterwards, it looks as if the rays are accross her hands and you'd think they would be behind them, but Im always trying to put together how shots are done gives me something to try with other thinks and you've certainly did a fine job.

Thank you Norm. The star burst was not added. My Sigma 30mm (and some of my other lenses) tend to do this aimed directly at the sun (and other bright lights). It is a flare and the number of points in the star is determined by the number of leafs the aperture mechanism has. In this case I think it is eight. Since it occurs in the lens itself - that is why it is on top of her hands,

I love the combination of the elements (water, air, earth, sun) in this pic. There's an atmosphere of ancient prayer in it. Excellent shot.

That said, I wonder if a vertical shot, FEC-0.5 or -1 and without the sails in the background would yield a technically better shot.
