I don't know if it's the proper thread to place this question. I'm seeing all this beautiful lenses in very good conditions. I'm only starting on MF and it's a kind of terror to keep'em free of fungus and all.
For now i have a Zuiko 24/2.8 and i'm w8 for my Summicron R 35/2 and my Distagon 28/2.8 to arrive.
How do you treat them?
I put them on a shelf (short term) or in a camera bag (longer term). The bag(s) has(have) desiccant packet(s).
I mount them on my camera and shoot photos with them. I don't shoot in the rain.
Before going from a cold, dry environment to a warm, moist environment, I place the camera and lens in an airtight bag and let them acclimatize before opening the bag.
That's about it. Life's too bloody short to make it any more complicated.
Only one of those 12 lenses I really owned from the beginning. Must have purchased it around 1980. It is the Zuiko Auto-wide 24mm f/2.8. All other lenses I acquired within the last one year. I use them all with af-confirm adapter on the Canon 5D. Last december I added an OM 4-ti. Have not yet tried it. Waiting for the film delivery from Germany. I like to try the new Kodak Ektar 100 Professional.
This was taken with the 24mm and OM-2 in 1984
This probably gives away my allegiance and will forever make me appear biased in lens manufacturer discussions, but oh well.
I almost need another DSLR to take pictures of my DSLR! The fuji compact I have does a good job of sharpness and noise, but the white balance and colour is always off... wish it did RAW.
Sweet! Is that a pre 1991 19mm you got there? I would like to know if the post 1991 19mm would fit a 5D MKII without mod to mirror?
I also have the 100mm APO Macro and just added the 1:1 Elpro and the STA 1 tripod mount to it.
My $2 Zuiko. Pulled the F717 out of retirement for this shot. I'm still amazed by the quality of its shots. Pretty much straight out of the camera. Just desaturated it a bit (it tends to oversaturate any reds in the shot).
