Island Lake, Tahoe National Forest. 4 hour exposure at f/5.6. Brought my camera and tripod back into the tent before it started raining and snowing in the morning.

Are these lab scans? Whatever they are they are damn near perfect.

Interesting. I just watched a couple videos on "pixel shifting" on two models of Nikon mirror-less bodies. It seems to accomplish the exact same result as Vuescan's "Sampling" setting (1X-16X). Less noise, more detail, and cleaner images.

The half frame thread has disappeared again, so I'll post these Kyocera Samuria X4 shots here. A little while ago I wanted to focus closer than the 30-32" mfd limit on the camera. I picked up a beautiful vintage Vivitar close up set in a leather case for $5

That's really good resolution for a half frame negative.

These were taken last year with my short lived experiment with a Yashica D. Loved the camera but my vision fell short of really being able to enjoy it. When I first scanned these, the conversions were muddy and flat. Part of the problem was the Yashica needed service and the shutter was dragging a bit. Tried a couple of different settings in NLP. Made some adjustments to the NS Basic Carrier and now all of the films, even CatLabs, load easily.

I didn't push the film this time, but I think the reason is the conversion using the 5DSR. I've got a theory (no oproof) that digital cameras bake in some noise reduction, and even some sharpening in their raw files. My Nikon raw files don't, but I think Canon has a different approach.

EDIT: btw I fill the frame when dslr scanning. So half frame, 35mm, 6x4.5 (not quite the correct aspect ration), 6x7 etc are all almost the same resolution - approximately 50 megapixels.
