p.1 #1 · Hawk kills Rabbit

I had the wrong settings on my 5D. Used my 24-105mm. A bit out of focus but I thought I'd share them anyway. Comments welcome!

Even if it was the wrong settings, I really like the effect it caused. It makes the photos seem that much more surreal.

Great shots.

You've either cropped these a lot or you were really close.

It's just nature & that's what you've caught.

Congratulations

I was very close to the action, maybe 30 feet. These were all cropped a little bit but not much. Thanks everyone! Hope you enjoyed them.

The fact that you got the series at all -- and that it was out in the open -- makes these special. I really like #2. Thanks for sharing!

Best Wishes,
Steve

5D is a slow camera and you did well with these but I feel they are a tad over saturated.. or do you have the settings in camera done for specifics?

Yes G Horn. It was a very cloudy grey day and I was shooting a landscape scene consisting of mostly grey cliffs. So I had the saturation on my 5D boosted to the max value when I shot the hawk. Mayve I should have brought the color down a bit when I cropped it. Thanks!

I have no idea what type of hawk. It was taken near Yakima Washington.

I also have some pictures of the dead rabbit... but I figured no one would want to see that!

Awesome scene to capture. Nature is beautiful and it is cruel.

Sadly the hard drive the originals of these images were stored in has irretrievably crashed. This link is the only place it exists now... Note to self, must make more than ONE back up of these kind of pictures!

Cool but warm captures
You must have been fairly close with a 24-105.

Hi Conrad.
I just noticed that this was first posted back in June 2008. It must be one of the longest running posts then
I should have said that I was sorry to hear that you lost them from your hard drive and probably a lot more too but at least you have some here.
