Nice idea Andrew, you image isn't showing up properly for me unless I right click on it and select view image, does your site perhaps disallow direct linking?
I like the lighting you've done on these, the tones might also be conducive to black and white, in my opinion.
Thanks Jason. I was noticing some weirdness with the image showing up. I can't find any issues with my site, but it's possible my hosting company has broken something for me.
I swapped the link around, hopefully it's better now.
The B&W idea is very cool. I'll give that a shot later in the week!
I love the lighting on this one. I feel like there might be a tad too much black space for my taste, but I do like the image a lot nonetheless. Good job and good luck.
I have to love the use of mag lites, I write that as a person who controls light with dish towels and aluminum foil.
This is a neat shot, I have to wonder though if it might benefit from a slight crop from the right and bottom. The negative space tips a bit for me on that side.
Those little halos around the lemons ground them in the space very well. This is very nicely done!
Negative space is a hard thing to nail. I was going for balanced-but-not-equal on each side, but I can also see it as too much. Later in the week I'll try a different crop and a B&W conversion (suggested above by Jason) and put them over on the critique board. I really like working with maglites for a dynamic moody effect. At some point I want to try something with chalk dust (or the like) in the air, so you can see a cone of light coming down (think ufo abduction scene).
