OK... Photographing my koi was my first concept anyway and this evening I finally got a shot I liked. I love how the water and colors combine to make an almost abstract image...as shot, natural distortion, no PS filter or spfx.
Bev-
Great shot. The Koi has taken on a very ethereal quality. This almost looks like someone threw bright orange dye and thick white paint in a body of dark green water and took a picture as it began to disperse. Very cool photo.

We were treated to three great images this week from you. They were all very good, but I like this one the best. I love your pictures of you Koi. They are lovely animals and you capture them beautifully. Wonderful, color, motion, and distortion in this shot. Good luck this week.
Thank you. I love your description of the image, and I agree. Color dispersion indeed.
Steve S.:
You are so sweet, thank you. Three images in one week is a new record for me. ha You're so kind. I love that you love my koi pics. I love photographing my koi and have gotten many bizarre and lovely shots of them. Best to you!

Bravo yet again, Bev, my dear friend! Another fabulous photo. You take photos of your Koi and I do of my Strad. Unfortunately, I can't put my Strad under water to get a distortion so I had to use PS.
ENDRE:
Thank you!! Yes, my koi are like a strad to me, though your strad is a masterpiece unto itself, as are your images of it. I don't see koi like this one very often, he is a rare beauty but very vulnerable. I fear he's getting to big for my pond and I will one day have to sell him. I've had him the longest, so it will be hard. Then what will I photograph? Oh my. May have to borrow your strad! ha
NORM:
You are so kind, thanks. A woman's prerogative is to change her mind, and having done that aplenty this week I'm sticking to this one. ;-)
MIKE:
Thanks! They are the ultimate watercolor. The lighting is tricky, what with reflections, you have to shoot at certain times of the day and various angles and when they're in the shady section of the pond, and then they have to do something lovely without another of my 10 koi interfering with the shot. Always worth the patience though.
Hi Beverly
What can i say im now torn between my love for Koi and the fantastic way youve captured it, and Strads strad. As to having to move him i know i couldnt. I gave away some koi last year to allow my oldest (17 yrs) to keep growing healthily.
Take care
Mark
JAZNO: Thanks so much!! This is a very loveable fish.
MARK:
I am flattered to have you torn between my humble image and anything Strad does! My fish would be honored to have your vote, but he'd be hard pressed to choose, too.
I can't part with him yet. Every time I consider it I feel ill! As long as he's not too big for the pond I'm keeping him. The fact that a good part of his size is his tail helps, so he's not really as long as shortfin koi of same length. I, too, have kept the herd down so I can have this larger beauty in the pond and still have great water quality. The others are growing so some of those must go; always a hard choice there.
This is a great picture. I've been going back over previous assignment entries, and didn't realize before how many times you'd won. It's well deserved! Some of the pictures you've entered are among my favorites already.
