p.2 #1 · Macro for Nikon: nikkor 105VR vs. Sigma 150?
I will have a look, I was refering to the sigma 150 mm Macro.
beautiful job anyway
thanks for sharing.
quite amazingly the Sigma 150mm Macro is MORE expensive in europe than the Nikon 105 VR micro...
Might need to go in USA to get them at a reasonble price, here in Europe the price gap with US is simply getting ridiculous...
p.2 #3 · Macro for Nikon: nikkor 105VR vs. Sigma 150?
Possible, but I can only buy it in euroland or in switzerland, as purchasing from other countries will add custom charges...
as the swiss francs=USD, the Sigma is around 840USD here

Thanks for your comments and reports, I guess it was not completely useless to ask this question, seeing the number of different opinions
Of course I know the quality of Sigma Nikon and Tamron regarding their respective Macro lens. Yes I would like to get a lens for portrait too, so 150mm is for me better than 105mm (being a bit more away from the model), but then one would like to get the VR for portrait... and Sigma does not.
yes, I read about the VR on the Nikon lens not working that well, by Thom and Ken Rockwell, so in that aspect VR might not be that much usefull, even for portrait... I might go for the sigma, and with the Sigma, saving dozen of Euros to reinvest in another lens or a better zoom.

I am very happy with the VR on the 105mm it is just the autofocus is not good close in. I use my 105 VR for all kinds of shots and found the VR to work really well. But for intensive macro work with a tripod, and I feel I really need it to get excellent results, you don't need the VR.
I am pretty sure they were complaining about the Autofocus not so much the VR.
