So how many did you book this year? I know you said you were going to stay around 30. We have one contract thus for 09, but most don't start booking around here until June when we have the summer bridal show. That's awesome that you have your calendar filled. We don't advertise for family pictures so we do very little of them. I prefer doing head shots over families.
Oh by the way, I got an email from a bride up your way. She thought we were in Greenville, NC. I told her we would travel and gave her the addtional cost. I haven't heard back from her. I also had a bride sign up for Trash the Wedding Dress. She was moving to Greenville, NC and thought that was where we were location. I have had Companies call about commercial work too thinking we were in your area. So, it's easy for me to see why you get calls from brides in Greenville, NC. Yvette...Show more →
We don't advertise family shoots either. The only advertising we do is the two bridal expos in Greenville each year.
We're settling on 30 for the year, wedding wise... Next year I hope to lower it to 25.
Melaine,
I am so happy for you! Way to go! I KNOW you will be able to handle it. You've worked hard, have a great product, a sparkling personality and that makes you loved. I agree, raise those prices. You're worth it!
Just don't get too busy and forget us!
Ya Melanie.. I'm just south of Raleigh and not in a dissimilar situation. I'm glad to see the glut of photographers hasn't affected (and possibly assisted) your success. I've noticed, once you get removed from a city, you get to focus much more on the clients and their desires rather then turn & burn.
If you ever get up this way gimme a shout, would love to meet up for coffee!
Mel, it's a combination of your high quality, unique work, and your devotion to client satisfaction.
It's refreshing in this climate of people complaining that "newbies" are ruining the market, that your business has expanded to this point. Proof that talent and good business practices are the key.
Hopefully, you are fully receiving the support and help you need to continue without burning out.
I think it is awesome that you have developed, by word of mouth, you business to that level! If you need, let me know and I will come up for the weekend to help you catch-up on orders!
