p.1 #1 · Flame post - to all boards

Lets get together to understand that time behind the camera and through the long haul will prove how good you are. I've seen a few early starters that have more talent than I, but will they make it through the long haul?

Will you piss off your family due to to the fact that that the flowers only bloom for this 2 weeks.?

Will you quit your current job to be at the right time and place?

And lets not get in to the number of sessions - I've done more than 1m heads.

Don't get me wrong but your life has to be in to it to be a pro.

Bob..........................28 years PRO.

Judging others and screaming how good you are... Usually this is based upon fear, frustration and little self-respect.

Sucking eggs is one thing and telling the poster he is full of shit is another. Please clarify.

Full of shit Certainly not my words. Just curious about the motivations behind your "flame post".

Dan B - My post is based upon the general readership whithin this forum. My guess (being that I don't have the actual #'s) are that MOST are new - meaning less than 5 years with a camera, and looking for pointers.

Easy tiger. I didn't say you were full of anything. I did point out that you've made a rather banal statement.

To title a thread "Flame Post" and then get upset when people comment seems a little silly to me. You could help by explaining why you started this thread or are you just a troll?

That is kind of the point of the forum. Professionals try to help newbies as well as each other. Newbies try and gain a little knowledge and understanding. What is your problem with that?

We see many that post thinking they are at the pro level.. The meaning of my post was to spark all you pros and the newbies to shorten the divide, but to have more contact, and those that hinnk you got it all together, I just took a more pro-active way.
If anyne would like to see my work , I will email you a link. This post is not about my work-

I see looking back that a title like that caused confusion. I am sorry for my title.

Funny though that posters wanted to hit me rather than the intent of the the opinions in the original post.

I'm afraid you brought that upon yourself. A thread title of "Flame Post" and then an opening post that seems to put newbies down whilst attempting to big yourself up is not a good way to endear yourself to people round here.

It's blindingly obvious to most people that to make it as a professional requires hard work, dedication, luck and even a bit of ability. I knew that when I was sixteen and starting out and I know it now, twenty-five years later.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

If I've misunderstood you, I'm sorry, but you're making little sense to me.

Regards,

Liam.

What is wrong with a someone being extremely passionate about photography but not being a professional?

Everyone who is half serious about being a pro knows how much dedication it takes and how long the road is, and that is why alot of people dont pursue that road and take on other passions but in every spare chance they continue to photograph what ever subject appeals to them.

If you dont like "Newbies" posting photographs up here asking or advice then simply dont read the post. Who cares if someone makes it through the long haul, they certainly shouldnt have to prove themselves to the likes of you. Aslong as they enjoy what they do then let them do it.

There are a whole bunch of pros on here that have helped me out so much more than they will know and have not asked or anything in return and I am more than grateful for that. I think it is a great community we have here.

Thank you Liam.

The intent of my post is and was to let those with a camera to realize that it takes a little art now and then to pull it off as a pro. I must go to bed now (AZ Time)because I need to be at the job at 6am, to set up and shoot 200 graduates in cap & gown. Such is a life of a pro.

Bob:

As a complete 'newbie' (I started taking photography seriously exactly one year ago), I do not know whether to be insulted or confused by your original post and subsequent comments, since I do not really understand what you are trying to convey.

In my opinion, the large numbers of both amateurs and professionals on this board is exactly what makes it such a valuable resource. I live just shy of the equator in Africa and the feedback I am receiving from everyone on my photos is helping me immensely and giving me the courage to push farther into this field.

Grateful if you could clarify your original post. Otherwise I think this thread should be either locked or deleted.

Cheers, Spyros
