i have Photoshop 7 through CS3 installed on the same Windows XP computer. i can print with correct results from 7 through CS2 using the same paper profiles and color management settings on my 3800. printing through CS3, the results are always way too dark. printing from Lightroom 1 also shows correct color. it is a CS3 problem as far as i am concerned as all the rest of Adobe's applications talking to the same printer drivers and using the same profiles work as they are supposed to.

I print from LR most often and always use Photoshop color management and make sure printer color management is turned off (no double profiling). And I get absolutely consistant results from both the PC and the Mac.... ALWAYS way, way too dark. I can, and have, literally printed from the same file copies from the Mac and from the PC to the R1800 and they are the same results. It is NOT a platform problem.
This sucks! I have the same problem with my R1800 - dark prints. I downloaded the new Epson ICC Profiles, but I'm not sure it's really engaged, with all the hassle of Photoshop/printer managing colors, setting the color space, etc. This should not be so hard! My prints look great from internet labs and on my wife's HP, but they're 1.5 stops too dark with the Epson. I've actually adjusted RAW images to about 1.5 stops too bright, just to get them to print out balanced. Of course, they still look terrible with poor contrast and colors.
Does anyone have any new info on a fix?
I read and re-read this thread a few times. Seems that for those that had the problem and resolved it, there's the Aussie company that helps with a custom profile, then some hit/miss ideas. Please help if there is new info -
Thanks

Whoa! I just figured it out -
I had a hunch that I wasn't enabling the printer profile - and that was it. Maybe I'm the only dummy, or maybe someone else could benefit. In the Photoshop (CS3) dialog box, I now selected SPR1800 PRMSemgls Photo.icc and it works like a champ! No more dark prints! (Well we'll see about extended tests)
I also tried SPR1800 Premium Semigloss and it looks the same at 4x6.
Does anyone know which are the new ones?
Thanks!
Jack
