GREAT COLORS Nick!...I love the reflection on the cup, it's a very clear image. The composition is perfect and I like the distant background
'sweet as honey'
Peter
I really like this image. The angle of the shot, the blending of the cup and saucer, the perfect swirl of honey, and the subtle lines in the tablecloth that lead your eye up the photo... Very nicely done! Was this natural lighting?
Thanks Peter,
I had some help from my wife with this shot. She let me use a cup and saucer from her teacup collection and she poured the honey and held the spoon for all the many takes.

Thanks so much for your comments, you are quite observant.
No this isn't natural lighting. I used a camera mounted SB-600 speedlight bouncing off a white ceiling over head, plus a photo flood light off to one side again pointed up to the ceiling. I really could have used more disfused lighting, but I shot in raw and was able to adjust the white balance and exposure a bit.
Great concept. This works for me cause I too like tea "black" too and any sort of sweetness is bound to get a reaction out of me. Placement is nice, and the cup is pretty vibrant. You won't find a cup like that in my home, but the image would be less interesting with a more normal cup of tea.

Good job!

Hi Marc,
I agree w/ you, it's not what I consider a real tea cup, it doesn't hold enough. I want a real mug, not something that dainty.
