p.2 #2 · Innovatronix or Vagabond with the D-Lites
If you get the Innovatronix be sure to get the bag with it. I've got 2 and just replaced the (widely available), batteries in both for $30 each. Very easy to swap batteries. What the Innovatronix is lacking imo is a trickle charger. You've got to manually keep them charged without overcharging and drying them out.

Good point! I just leave my Vagabond II plugged into the wall outlet 24/7.
I wish my Turbo battery had that feature as well. What a joke! You're supposed to plug it in only 24 hours in advance of using it (How do you always know when you will need it?) Then if it just sits there unused, it discharges from peak pretty fast.

A year ago innovatronix said ' leave it plugged in', which I did only to find both units dead a year later. It was easier and cheaper to replace the batteries myself than to send the units back. I emailed Innovatronix and asked how I should handle charging and this time they said to charge the units 3 to 5 hours once a week. I have to say the people at Innovatronix always answer emails promptly and have been great to deal with.

Does anyone know if you can use a single vagabond with multiple monolights? The photos on the ab site only show a single outlet, unlike the tronics.

You can plug in a multiple outlet adapter and run more, but the recycle time slows down accordingly. Somewhere they state exactly how many you can run. Perhaps a question posted to the PCB user forum can help.

Are you talking quantum turbo?
Just keep them topped off and they don't discharge that fast...maybe you need a new cell? ? ?

As far as I know the Innovatronix XT has a trickle charger. At least they recommend to leave it plugged in when not in use.
I just plug mine in for a few hours about once a month

I have the Quantum Turbo 2+2. (Cell was replaced already) It looses the fourth LED (highest charge) after just several days after non-use. Holds at about 3 LEDs for a few weeks though.

Some interesting information in this thread.
I'm a UK elinchrom user who doens't want to splurge on the Elinchrom battery packs. Would a Vagabond 2 work with my D-Lite and eventually RX heads? The info says the Vagabond can charge anywhere so using in the UK wouldn't be a problem. Surely with a UK/US plug adapter i can attach a UK power strip to plug my lights into?
Would this work? Is this going to damage my kit? Above all is it dangerous? lol
This would be a great cost effective solution to me getting outdoors with my lights.
It also wouldn't get really regular use, maybe twice a month.

The Vagabond puts out 110V, not 230V. The alternative option is the 230V version of the Explorer XT. D-lites work flawlessly with this unit.

I wonder if its possible to buy a trickle charger elsewhere? Any electronics ppl reading here?
I don't know what the connection looks like to charge them. But you can make almost anything yourself with a little know-how. Get a "battery tender" they are by far the best trickle charger.

I've had a look at the Innovatronix unit on their website and i can see they offer a North American version and a European version. If i get the european version can i still use it in North America with the appropriate plug adapters? I travel so while the primary use would be in the UK i would also probably take it to USA/Oz for shoots too.

Should be no problem. To make shure you may send them a mail, they respond pretty quickly.
I take it that you will pick up the Tronix in the US and bring it later home to the UK. This may cause problems at the customs, I suppose. When you keep the invoice they will at least charge you the VAT....
