say Endre...I like the perspective here alot! I like being able to see the bucket but not the painter's head, it focuses the image on the painting rather than the man
nice work

Endre, my sweet friend! I truly LOVE this!! Everything about it is unique from the perspective to the concept itself. Great use of selective color. I just can't find anything to say but
A great image, as usual Endre.
Only one thing I would do differently, and that is in the color tone of the UN-saturated part of the image. Since it has a cool, bluish cast to it, it makes it look like he's painting at night.
Not necessarily a bad thing... but looks a bit awkward to my eye in that regard.
(Maybe just personal preference.)
Good luck to you!

Thanks, Jim, my friend! I apprecite your kind coment. I always try to come up with something new and different! No, it's not the same window. The hummingbirds were on the exact opposite side of the house.
Fond regards,
Endre

I very different photo from you this week, Endre. An unusual perspective. Is this the window you shot the hummingbird from?
Thanks so much, formerly Canandaigua PH, my friend! Glad you like it. It was a tricky shot to do but I'm glad I accomplished what I was after - namely focusing the story of the shot on the paint and not the painter.
Fond regards,
Endre

Thanks Carrol. I apprecite your kind comment and suggestion. Actually, the shot was done under very rainy conditions. He was under the eve of the house, as you see but I was out in the rain. People in Los Angeles do funny things. I don't think a painter would do outside painting on a rainy day anywhere else but in LA. Consequently, the light was also quite grey. I guess I had that in my mind when I did the B & W conversion. I hadn't thought of doing the selective color when I did the conversion and when I did think of it, I was too lazy to go back and start from scratch. I have tweaked it a bit, though, because it did bother me that the contrast seemed too flat and I also thought it could use a bit more brightness. i think I also got rid of some of the bluish cast in the process. See what you think of it now.
All best wishes and Happy New Year!

Unusual perspective and photo, especially coming from you my friend. I really like the contrast and selective color. Perfect for the assignment.
Is the painter any good ? Need some work done around here but I guess the air-fair will sort of put him out of the price rage I had in mind
Christian
Thanks so much, Christian! So glad you like it! You're the second one to mention that it's unusual for me. Is it that much different from my usual style? It doesn't seem that much different to me but then I shot it.
The painter is excellent and doesn't charge all that much. He painted out house 17 years ago and it has held up so well that he is now just retouching the woodwork and it will look brand new again. Even with air fare, you'd probably do well hiring him.
Fond regards and Happy New Year!

Thank you so much, Philly! Your record of picking my finalist level entries is so far perfect. Now, I'll have to start worrying if you don't think a shot is worthy of the finals. :worried:
All best wishes,
Endre

Thans so much, Andrew, my friend! I'm so glad you like it and expecially pleased that you would find it worthy of your vote amid this fine field of finalists. It was a difficult topic so I'm honored that my shot was chosen.
Fond regards,
Endre

Hi Endre,
Another great image! You’ve got my vote. I particularly like the underside of the paint tin. Love & prayers as always.
