I like the shot, except the dof is too shallow and the out of focus arms in the lower right ironically pulls your focus, at least for me. I disagree that it looks 'forced', as it looked very genuine to me.
I also disagree with what carminaf says. Your work is awesome, and you are evolving. I, with others that have said, have learned a lot from looking at your work. Please keep posting!
fb - in all honesty, i come to see posts from you, JAF Doorhof (?sp), Maxellus (when he posted), and probably 6-12 others whom I wish I could think of this very moment ... Michael Soo (again ?sp) or similar ...
i would be very disappointed if you were to cease posting ..
Found my problem, was a firefox addon blocking images. Back to enjoying the art and photography on th FM.com
I promise I'll post one of my photo's one day, but I feel so amateurish compared to what goes on here. And I really have not much ability to say more than "I like it" or "I don't like it" for the photo's I see on this board.
What I know… from personal experience this shot is dead on. My sister is a lesbian and this captures both the passion and fear. That’s in focus or this and that shade made no difference at all, only the power of the image and the story it tells really matters. Great job Dude
I am provoked out of my novice lurking state by the extremely unjustified comment by CarminaF.
Having come out of lurkhood this once, my comments are: for me, the tension in the arms and wrists are an important part of conveying the intensity of the emotion, and I think they should be in sharp focus. If there is anyway to accentuate the static force in the muscles of the forearms it may be tried. For me the pool table is a distraction. This is potentially a very powerful photograph.
It is easy to be a photo critic and hard to be a photographer, so I'll head back into lurkerhood.
I really like the OOF area.. it draws the eye towards the girl on the left and definatly defines who belongs to who.. I think the composition would have been confusing given the title if both were in focus. I dont think the pose looks forced at all.. forcefull yes.. but there's a difference.. keep posting I think your work is great! I just wish I had access to the models you seem to have lining up at your door
I think its different and unique, i like the use of color in this shot.
I'm surprised anyone would give that comment a second glance, ive already forgotten it.
