p.3 #1 · Valerie, Child fashion model

eddyboy,

I agree that the prosecution of parents/grandparents/etc. over innocent photos of their kids/grandkids in the nude is going way over the top. There is definitely an overly moralistic bent to certain aspects of society in the U.S. I have taken a few photos (by client request) of their young kids in the past (for instance, a one-year-old in frilly "bloomers") and later thought "I hope there isn't some nervous nelly at the photo developing place to decide to turn me in to the authorities".

@ eddyboy

I sometimes forget the Internet is not a country and that many live in societies different from my own. I didn’t know it was so strict in the US, I feel sorry for many artists living there, but I fear it’s going the ‘wrong’ way in my country also. Let’s hope people start getting their senses back in not too long time. (Sigh)

Well, all the best for 2008!

i'm totally dodging any issues or age or appropriateness because i am still undecided in how i feel about this after two years of mulling it over ...

i never feel comfortable with teenagers made to look "hot," and i would never take this shot myself for fear of how it CAN BE perceived by many ... but i also think that that is a result of a societal pressure and that naturally i'm inclined to find it attractive whether morally correct in a social sense or not ...

regardless of those considerations, i like the capture a lot ... a lot of control in the white boa ...

kudos on the technical aspects of the shot ...

I feel that there is nothing wrong with this picture. It is well covered and she is proud of who she is.

Some of you are whining about her make-up, to make it look adult. Many high school girls wear make up, in case you are not aware of it.

I feel bad about your society, your interpretation on the photo, jumping into the conclusion what she is about to do next.

I believe jwstudios is aware of what he is doing before he took this shot. I enjoy his work. Again, I respect your opinions about this picture.

Regards,

many people live in 1st-world countries where it is no longer acceptable to have natural urges ... somehow the fault lies on the person who finds the switch, and little thought is given to the motivations of the person who sets the bait ...

the traditional concepts of childhood and parenthood and simple family values have been replaced by laws, guidance officers in schools, and divorce - mostly pushing one-sided christian values as if that is the law of the universe ... this society is not one i want to bring a child into ... i wish to myself frequently that things were headed in a different direction ... hopefully many people who feel similarly will vote in the next election ...

It is an odd thing to say that you respect others opinions and, yet, in the same post characterize those opinions as "whining". I guess this can only mean you respect their whining? or??

I have to agree she is less "tarted up" than most high school girls I see daily standing waiting for the school bus...the latest style being jeans worn slung so low that they surely have to shave their pubic hair to go that low. By contrast the model in this post looks like a darling little angel with just a bit too much makeup...I have no moral opinion about this but it is an interesting notion that the current "style" for kids is to more or less look like a hooker from the 1980's.

If I have an objection, it is their 40s plus overweight mothers trying to carry off that look.. .. A style that looks great on about 3% of the females on the planet

What bothers me most is her mother boosting the shooting. It sure smacks of a Jon-Benet type of parent. This mother ought to be checked out for intent.

all kidding aside, and i'm willing to believe i'm influenced by the jon-benet tragedy from the recent years, i heard "candle in the wind" in my head the second i saw the capture ...

Pedophiling aside, her experssion is a little too bland for this bedroom shot. The edited version looks good for a plain portrait, however the orginal tells much more of a story. With the tossled hair, a sense of morning light and the bed rail background, you wonder what she was just doing and with who. You could even make the lighting more softer or subdued to give the sense of a nightime fantasy. The perfect lipstick may be interpreted as too pornograhic. The boa is also too concealing for the mood. I bit more chest or ribs would make this shot more sensual.

Wow, that's a powerful shot. Not sure if it's what was originally intended by you or by the model but it looks to me like someone knew what they were doing. The fact that so many people find it uncomfortable proves what a great shot it is.

Reminds me of the Miley Cyrus controversy only I like Miley's photo more than this one. The make up looks the same as I've seen in documentaries on the child model contests and I've never liked that look - personal taste.
