Sadly we have come to the end of the line. At an unlucky number of "13", no less. I might have to consider deleting an image so as not to suffer any "bad luck". Hmmm..... which to toss?

Gorgeous shots of some very tough to capture birds. I don't know about So. California but here these are all very shy birds and are normally way off shore on Lake Michigan (except the Pelicans and Ibis which are about 2000 miles west and not really reachable with my 500mm even with the 1.4X

). I would be thrilled to get close to any of them. I love the action and the light in all these.

Thanks. These birds are skittish in SoCal also. Just happened to find a spot that they like and is also accessable. Just keeping a low profile and being unobtrusive allows them to wander in and go about their business.
Have you considered the use of a 2X TC for your Pelican and Ibis shots since the 1.4X doesn't have the reach?

awesome shots ken. i like the surf scooter and bufflehead shots. #8 is my favorite pick just because it is such a exotic looking bird. i have yet to get a good pic of it.
