I like this, what a tough shot. I love the birds in the background, the light in the tailfeathers and the way edges of the bird on the post glows. It still seems a bit dark overall and the brights a bit too bright? Not sure if you can do anything about that without ruining the rest of the image. I really like it overall, nice, natural shot.

Thanks JEF,
Glad you like it. There is nothing much to get back from this image. It was shot directly into the setting sun. Clearly, everything is blown out in the water, and, there is little or nodetail to get from the shade, not even color. It's borderline a silhouette. But, this is the best I have right now,
Thanks for your comments

Christian ~ What a lovely surprise this shot is! I'm not sure I would change anything either ... maybe, and I'm not even sure, but that little strip of dark up at the upper righthand side, I might clone that out for a white top to see how that looked. It might give the impression of fading out to the top. But it might not work too ...
It's a neat shot, very much captures the "backlight" topic too.

Don't change anything, this is excellent as is. It's almost like a graphic, very neat effect.
Bob, I think I'm known for changing/tweaking (especially when I receive critique) so I can't promise I won't change anything I'm glad you like it.

Carolyn,
Thanks for the comments. I like critique to improve so I'll experiment with your suggestion.

Good luck

ps...love the title
Thanks Patty,
You can't see the pole the gull left as I cropped it out but it seemed there must have been 100 poles and 101 birds. Not my best shot but I think this will be my entry for this week.

I really like it, too. At first, the overexposure to the left seemed distracting, but in reality, it drew my eye to the flying bird which is really the focus. Well done.
Good shot Christian. I really like the tones in this...the gradient running left to right, and whatever lens you used handled flare very very well. Good shot!
