Patricia, about dry ice. It has a property of sublimating extremely quickly at room temperature. Leaving a block on the table will get you nice light mist. Dropping a piece into a cup of warm water will give you vigorous smoke. As Don mentioned, dry ice should be handled with great care because its surface temperature is very low.
