Brian..I feel your comment is totally inappropriate and disrespectful, not only to the finalists, but to the person who selected them.

What everybody forgets is what MarjB kindly reminded us. The Weekly Assignment is NOT A COMPETITION!!!!!! Please, once and for all people, get that into your minds!!! If you are here to try to win, please go post your pictures somewhere else.

Daschund,

Sorry whatever you say about the benefits of participation, of course, the WA is a competition. There are prizes (albeit modest) and a winner. If it looks like one, smells like and tastes like one, it IS one. I don't believe lecturing people on their motivation is an appropriate response to disappointment at not winning or failing to make the judges' cut.

To those disagreeing with the judges' choices, I say tough, them's the rules. In any competition that relies on aesthetic judgements rather than objective measurements, you will almost never get full agreement. I only enter the WA rarely because I am too undisciplined to go out and create an appropriate picture to submit, but I always try to vote. Sometimes there is, in my view, a great selection from which to choose, other times less so. Occasionally, I think "WTF is that POS doing here?" and almost never does my choice turn out to be the winner. Making the voting system include all entries isn't going to reduce the subjectivity and will make the WA much more cunbersome.

Regards,
