Stephen,
Loolks like I'll drive to Bosque on Thursday the 23 rd and return on the 27th or 28th.
I would like to keep this post on the first page as long as possible, so that whoever is interested to go to Bosque can see this. The problem is that not too many of us visit the Member Meetings and Events forum.
I will post a few more images so that no one can get upset
When I was in Bosque last November, I caught some actions of two hawks fighting for territory (I am just guessing of course). The whole series lasted almost for two minutes. I had to shoot throguh two big trees, parked on the side of the road and leaning over to the passenger side with my 500f4. I could not see the hawk that was attacking due to the limited FOV. I just focused on the hawk that was being attcked and hit the shutter in a series of shots when I saw the hawk was ready to defend himself. Closed down the aperture a bit to get more DOF and got my fingers crossed. Whoever says that we don't need 8 fps has not idea what they are talking about .
Harrier vs. Red-tail - excellent exchange, Stephan. You know what, it appears I will be traveling to Tuson AZ toward the end of Nov. and I just might be able to fit in a side trip while out that way. Keep posting shots like you have been and it may turn into a reality. Would they let Mr. Zoom into Bosque del Apache with his piddly little 400mm lens, no tripod and an ancient 1D2N?

Thank you for your comment, especially the ID of those hawks. I gave up ID hawks long time ago and they all look the same to me . Btw, which one is the Harrier and which one is the Red Tail?
It will be worth your time and effort to spend at least a day in Bosque to give you a better idea what is the big deal about that place. If I were you, I would hide your piddly little 400mm lens and only expose it very briefly when you absolutely have to use it to take a shot. .
I may have to post a few more Bosque images if I have to keep this thread on the first page.
Thank you. I will be there on Thanksgiving Day and plan to stay for 5-6 days. Please send me an email regarding your plan as I am trying to organize something for FMers in Bosque this November. This year we might have more FMers together in Bosque than previous three years.
Thanks for adding to my anticipation of going again this year.
I will be there from November 25-30th.
Jim
Thank you, Jim. I will be in New Mexico from Nov 22-29, and I plan to stay in Bosque (depends on shooting conditions) for 5-6 days. It will be nice we can have a get together for all the FMers in Bosque. I am trying to put a list of FMers in the area so that we can arrange for something. An email to me with your plan will help. I will send emails out to those who would like to get together in Bosque and have a few meeting time/spots set up. Looking forward to meeting you.
