There are three Nikon D3 related threads on the Canon forum while, at this particular moment, only a single one on the Nikon forum. What's wrong with that picture, huh ? Can someone explain that to me ?
I know it was in jest, but I'll answer it anyway.
I've never really viewed fredmiranda as a strong Nikon forum. It seems like there are many other more active ones out there on the net for those users.
Plus, I'd say the fredmiranda Canon users aren't for the most part just Canon fanboys, so the interest is in the best equipment. And these offerings on paper are pretty damn good.
I wonder if we see an immediate $500 drop in the price of the 1dIII. It would put it back at the white paper level, and give Canon some perhaps needed distance between a better spec'd body.

You are right about FM having more Canon users.... but things changed pretty fast there though. There is even a poll there already about the new D3.... It is entertaining to say the least. Like I mentioned earlier, competition is good for us the end users. Yup, the price will come down and the product will get better.

Wow 51 Pt AF and twin CF card slots and 9fps at full resolution, or 11 fps with its high speed crop mode! Nice!
Now I wonder what Sony has on offer in the way of full framed?
My guess is that Sony will release a 5D-like FF camera, instead of a Pro level camera to compete with Nikon, since they are probably good friends with the Nikon folks now.
Hmm...kinda makes me wonder if Canon will finally ditch the APS-H sensor and make the next 1D full frame to match Nikon. Canon needs a performance full-frame camera, and the 1DsIII or whatever it's going to be is probably going to be way out of the ballpark.
But ouch though, Nikon trumping Canon right after Canon released the venerable 1DIII.

Looks to me like the D3 eats 1D-series for breakfast. Then poops it out before lunch. The prices of the D3 and the 1DIII are quite close.
How so? Sure it has some impressive specs.. But I fail to see the analogy you are using applicable here.

Hope Fuji can get this body and put their FF sensor on as a S7 Pro or something. That will be the dream camera for the wedding photographers.
But Fuji make there own sensors, So for Fuji to do it, They would need to develop and build there own full framed sensor.
I like the ability to set different formats with the sensor, You can switch between FX (Full frame) DX (APS-C) and 5:4 formats!
this looks pretty cool, but knowing the little that i know about Nikon, they still don't seem to have a camera that competes with the Canon as far as landscape photograpers go. this camera doesn't have the MP to take on the 1Ds, or the price point to take on the 5D. all these fps everyone is yapping about is cool, but i shot 90% of my photos with a tripod, MLU, and a remote. i'd have to see a HUGE improvement in image quality over my 5D to ever consider a Nikon.
You guys should all thank me. After waiting them out for so long I finally upgraded my 20D and look at the wealth of new products that comes your way so soon after I did. I want the credit! None of this nice job Nikon crap. It was me and don't you forget it.
Yeah, it is a horse race...and that can't hurt! They also added VR to the superteles which was a big problem for them in the past...but man, dd you see the prices? Still, it is not going to hurt us in the least to have some competition. And noone expected Nikon to sit still and go away. Being an ex Nikon shooter, they have always had strong points...color being the biggest one. ISO being the weakest point. We will see what happens, but you can sure Canon will not sit still.
