The 1DMK3 has really impressed me. I prefer it over my 1DSMK2. That being the case I think I will opt to sell the MK2 & add a 1DSMK3 to the arsenal.
Having said that though I have a question. Given that the new camera will share the features of the 1DMK3, other than extra resolution, what are the other improvements that will increase IQ beyond the 1DMK3 ?

There are tremendous problems with that AF system. It seems to me that nobody here is aware of that

there may be a problem for some. Mine is fine & so are plenty of others What are you on about exactly

With 16.7 mp the 5D would be about halfway the 40D/1DIII and the 1DsIII that makes sense. And I would like some of the other goodies in the 5D
-dust removal
- 0.75 viewfinder magnification
- 22 viewfinder eyepoint ( I have glasses )
It's not exactly quite acurate to make such a comparison, but that picture seems to be sharper than one straight out of the 1DsMII, even considering the sharpnening is set to 2.
Maybe the AA filter is weeker on the MIII...

I just looked at the sample image and am disheartened to see chromatic aberrations on not only the necklace, but in the hair also upon really close inspection. I mean don't get me wrong, this camera is still making me drool....but I would have thought by Digic III something like this (especially in the studio) could be fixed a little better. However, I also realize the image was also shot at f1.8. IMHO probably not the best f-stop to show off the camera's greatest qualities. I could be way off on that though since I don't do camera testing.

Of course. No part of the necklace is in focus. Lenses are only optimized for chromatic aberrations in the in-focus zone. Optimizing a lens for it in the out-of-focus zones means sacrificing some other part of image quality. I don't see any chromatic aberrations in any of the in-focus areas. What I do see is a bluish color balance (probably just a poor choice on the part of the photographer or marketing department) and a rotated image that should be vertical.
Bummer, just bought a mint 1Ds MK I for quite high price but with only 17,000 actuation's on the clock. No, I knew the MK III was coming soon... Am I happy with MK I? Yes very at 100 to 400 ASA, its a backup to a 1D MK II, which might just be demoted for the Ds. Will I upgrade soon? For the portraits I do the skin detail with the cameras I have is to much with what I have, liberal use of clone in lighten mode at 50% ish... Main reason to upgrade both would be more keepers with AF. The specs look good for both the 1D and 1Ds but will probably leave it 18 months to iron out any problems. Bummer also that they did not keep the same battery shape, as we will all have to flog our spare 1D series batteries... Still should be lots of half knackered ones on eBay. PS Glad I chose Canon over Nikon.

CA is more likely caused by the lens than the camera.

It could be a $8000 crapshoot for the people who order one right away.
I have a 1D Mark III with the firmware upgrades, it still shows the same focus trouble as the six cameras RG has tested.
I believe there are some properly working units in the hands of consumers now. But I also believe the problem is more widespread than people think.
A number of people who have posted samples and said they can't see any trouble, also appear to misunderstand the reported issue. The samples they post are not in the same conditions that really reveal the problem.
