If this is correct and RAW is 10.1MPX and 12MB, ¿Anyone can tell from these specs if the 40D will be 12 or 14bits?
Thanks
I can't say for certain, but a quick look at the XTi 10.1 mpx files show a general file size of between 9 and 12 MB, depending on subject material, ISO setting, etc. So there's a chance, but nothing certain. One can only guess.
I think that 1/2 weather sealing is more likely. If this is the case, it would also hint that the 5D MkII would also get the same weather sealing too.
I see quite a few good reasons to buy this cam if these specs are true. If I already had a 20D/30D, there's not such an urgency. Because I'm looking for a 2nd camera body to compliment my 5D...this cam is looking very tempting
What leads me to believe its weather sealed are 1) the hot shoe used is the exact same shoe of the MKIII thats made to mate up with the 580ExMkII for a water proof seal, its very different than the shoe they have been using for the last 20 years. 2) the buttons clearly have a ring around them same as all the 1 series cameras, the 20/30D, 5D and rebels have never had rings around the buttons.

OK, I will translate new information from Rafa Irusta, at http://www.dsmcomunicacion.net/blog/
(Rafa leaked exactly the specs of the 1dmkIII)
-> 6.5fps and 3fps selectable
-> RAW of12 MB (3888 x 2592) and sRAW of 7 MB (1936 x 1288)
-> 24 custom functions (C-Fn) and 3 personalized setting (C1,C2 and C3)
-> 3″ LCD with 230.000 pixels and 7 brightness adjustments
-> ISO in the viewfinder
-> new wireless transmitter WFT-E3
-> New kit lens: Canon 18-55 f3,5-5,6 IS
I really like the specs, specially moving from a 350D
I would like to know about the VF, weather sealing and noise levels, but as it is, I think the upgrade is worth.

the link you provided using google translation said it had a vf with:
"Viewfinder with an approximated cover of 95%"

That is the same as now right?
Well, that's an incomplete specification.
The 30D has 95% coverage vertically and horizontally, and also has 0.9X magnification. This is, of course, based on the APS-C format size of 22.5 X 15 mm. An increase in magnification means that it will be larger, but possibly dimmer.
The coverage spec only indicates that it will show about 95% of what your picture actually includes in the viewfinder. In other words, there's a slight amount of the image that's trimmed in the viewfinder that will show up on the screen after taking the image.
If you look to all the specifications of EOS cameras in the Canon webpage you will see that all of them, with the exception of the 1DMkIII have RAW files sizes in MB with values very close to the actual MPX.
In the case of the 1DMkIII the specifications are 13MB for 10MPX, and I assume it is due to the 14 bits.
So, if the specifications are true for the 40D with 12MB for 10MPX, that will mean the 40D is a 14bits machine!!
Excellent if true.
Because they will be going cheap when and if a 40D is released. At the moment they are a smidgin over US $1000 but once a replacement comes out their prices will probably drop as shops clear their old stock.

At that point it will be a bargain.
Yep I agree, the smartest consumers are probably the ones who purchase 30D on clearance... I don't think I'm a smart consumer though

The XTi/400D manual says that the RAW size is 9.8 MB, so this would seem to call for a 14 bit file format in the 40D!
