Hi Mary! Thanks so much! I had never had a black kitty before Minky, but she's my favorite of all time. She picked me out during a trip to the Humane Society...my son and I were actually there for a puppy (for him) when she stretched her tiny kitten paw out through the bars and tapped me on the arm. I knew right then she was the one. Now we've been 'roommates' for close to 16 years.

Hice one Philly. Nice leather jacket + nice black cat + nice shot = Finalist
Thanks, Chuck! You are so encouraging, and I really appreciate you.
Of course, we never know what Fred will think, but I'm happy to have a nice portrait of my little girl. As old as she is, I might have missed this opportunity with the WA.
Thanks to some excellent post-production input from one of the best photographers here, I've tweaked my original image and I hope it's as good as the tips I was given.
I think it looks spectacular, Philly! I'm glad to have been of help. I hope everyone else agrees that my suggestions were actually improvements. :worried: They were very minor tweaks, though, to an already wonderful shot.
All best wishes,
Endre

I do like the completely black image Philly. Now the eye does go directly to the catch lights. We now have 9 kittens including 2 blacks...if you were closer we would send one home with you to give Minky an understudy..

Endre, I like the result of those tweaks so much that it doesn't matter to me if anyone else likes it. I LOVE how it turned out, so yesterday I printed a copy for myself, put it in a frame, and now Minky is in my home Gallery.
That's why I love FM, and the members here. I'm learning more every day.....and that's what I'm here for. Thank YOU! ...Show more →

Awwwwwwww, I would love to have a new black kitten! But, my only attempt at getting Minky a 'friend' backfired about eleven years ago when I got Pete, (PITA.)
She's never forgiven me for that! But I appreciate the thought, my friend!
So... at last... we see her in the fur for the first time. This must be the stealth kitty known as MI Minky - the arch nemesis of George and Mildred. Expect a visit from our magnificent muppets sometime soon...
er... assuming they can find her... she does erm... look really quite adept at being stealthy.
I'll echo the superb sentiment, and up the ante with a... um... "Smashing"
Ah, Flibble my friend! Higher praise cannot be gotten, and I thank you.
Please alert G & M that Minky has a Black belt in Ka(t)rate, so come prepared to do battle. Her temperament reminds me of your matron, as she takes no prisoners, and bars no holds. She also bites.
She will await their arrival with relish!
("Bwwahahahahaha" Minky laughed maniacally, and then promptly went back to sleep.)
Philly, I like how the highlights flow from the background and seemingly blend with the highlights on Minky. Judging by Minky's pupils...I suspect you don't stroke her belly often. EeOoooW!
You're right about Ms. Mink, too. She's not one to let you stoke her, but if you're willing to scratch her head until you develop carpel tunnel syndrome, she'll be your friend for life.
Very nice combinations of black subjects Philly!
The beautiful cat with her exquisite black coat and the original background with your biker’s jacket complement each other perfectly…
Philly this is one of my favs this week.(And I am not a cat person). The light falling on the folds of the coat and on the cats fur are fabulous. A finalist.
Oh Howard! Thank you so much! I really appreciate all this praise, but I know not to allow my expectations to get too high.
I'm just thrilled that so many of my friends here think I did a good job on this one!
I had some great input, and excellent tips, from our friend, Endre, and I owe a lot to him. My entry wouldn't be nearly as good if he hadn't 'schooled' me.
Thanks again, my friend! You're a great cheerleader!
