Beautifully done! I imagine you've used some supplemental light in the foreground. However it was done, the result is popping color and texture in the tulip, with a somewhat muted background. Great combination. Excellent composition. I especially like the way the side lit leaves and stem stand out against dark portions of background.

Beautiful image. I was thinking of how to beautifully capture an "ant's perspective"--and you did it masterfully. Nice work

Very dramatic. You've nailed the lighting.

It towers like the pine. The great lighting does hurt either.

Stunning! Had this been mine, I probably would have cropped it to the end of the leaf on the left, so it's interesting to see the whole image.

Beautifully lit, and the colors are splendid! A wonderful capture, Rueben!

I really like this. The lighting is what really makes it and I hope you will descirbe your approach.

so you want to know how i did it? okie dokie
i'm running my nikon d80 with a 18-200mm, popup flash, single strength output flash, with attached eye slave
so basically i found an angle which i liked, then i would place the other flash in a place which would light the scene in a dramatic way, and still be triggered by the popup
then using the manual override on on board flash output i would use that to balance the lighting between the two light sources
minor adjustment to the distance between the external flash, to adjust it's intensity (longer distance=less intense flash). then some photoshop work to darken shadows, white ballance
and poof you have this shot, and a couple other which didn't work, but they helped you get to this shot
