I had a Seagate. It was a piece....nothing but trouble. Went to a couple different places asking for the most reliable. the overwhelming majority said Western Digital. So I got the 500GB MY BOOK and so far so good. also found out some stores are not even selling Seagates any more due to the high failure rate.
I bought a d-link dns 323, network storages. Works great and you can put whatever sata drive in it you like. It takes two of them and supports, raid 1 and raid 0.
I went for the dns 323 and 2 samsung 400gb drives (samsung is the only harddrive company with their own data recovery lab that's included in the warranty)
