HHSKI: Thanks. I know the feeling. I got lucky this time. If I hadn't had the pin I would still be trying to figure out what to do. Good luck!
PHILLY: You're so sweet, thanks. Great minds think alike, indeed. I know you'll wow us with something.
SCOTT: Thank you!!! Living in Texas there are bugs out this time of year but it's difficult to find them. I saw a yellow butterfly yesterday but I stuck to my original concept...such a patient and cooperative little model I had. :-)
STEVE: An idea will come to you. It's in there bouncing around, trust me!
DAN: Oh wow, you just made my day. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
Bev. Believe it not you were right on. I actually came up with an idea that is more on a serious approach. It will be a difficult shot to pull off, and I need to figure out how to shoot it. Will be a first at attempting something to this magnitude, but I think it does have a powerful message to it. Once I figure it out, look for it. Wish me success.
That's a great shot Bev,
From the thumb nail image I thought it was a real beetle. Your compostion and lighting is perfect, the water drops are super.

Just outstanding Bev. Great take and a beautiful pin too. The colors and composition are perfect. The double take aspect worked here. Great job on this very colorful entry.
Bev,
What a fantastic shot that captures so many of the elements that make up a great shot!
I think you have also just introduced the star of a new children's book, so start typing.
Fantastic entry!
Tom
NICK: Thanks! The rain water was nature's generous contribution and I appreciated it.
PETER: On behalf of my 'insect' and myself, thank you!!!
TOM (BASORE): Thank you so much! The pin is quite lovely and I think he enjoyed being photographed though he was very confused that he wasn't on clothing.
TOM (Boucher): The star of a new children's book, eh? Fun idea, thanks! My best to you!!

Going on the theory that your first concept is probably your best... here's mine. This is a hand-made and hand-painted beetle pin, a true work of art, given to me as a gift a few years ago--captured here in my garden right after it stopped raining today. I was going for that double-take where for a split second you don't realize this handsome fella is really an impersonator.
This really is a beautiful little sculpture, and a very awesome job of shooting.
Everything is right from the droplets to the comp to the concept.
Excellent work - I think you should be a contender for sure.

THANKS, ART!!! It was fun to shoot, and having such a colorful model guaranteed a visually interesting shot. He worked for free, too. :-)
Thanks, Evren! No setup really, just plopped the little guy down on the leaves as they were right after the rain stopped. Timing and luck can play a significant role in many shots. I will take credit for finding the right leaves though. :-)

That's no moon!
Oh wait, we're not in a galaxy far far away. Um...
Al the compliments deserved. Great entry.
Thank you Flibble!!! The only 'moon' I know of around here is the cute little Flibbleant's. My best to the missus....& ask her not to flay me? I shall do better to restrain myself; but that little Flibbleant is quite the charmer and totally irresistible I'm afraid (not my fault!).
Great shot Beverly...I see many others have commented likewise, but I got distracted by the eating of camera bags. Thus, I'm likely to say the same things as others...good composition & excellent colors.
