The Doc65,
Tim's a riot. Yeah, Y'Stone's pretty good. I suggest driving to Livingston, then south following the Yellowstone River to Gardiner. Entering the national park, do the big figure eight -- slowly (it takes you past the most important features, and, shucks, you might find some wildlife as a bonus). Then exit through the town of West Yellowstone and take US 191 north to Bozeman.
If time permits, Glacier National Park is another of the world's special places. The highways leading there on the east side of the Rockies are mostly in the Great Plains, which usually requires a lot more time and effort to get good photos. The western side of the Rockies has more streams and forests. Once in Glacier N.P. make sure you take the Going-to-the-Sun Highway over Logan Pass. With decent light, it's as beautiful a drive as any in the country.
To do the whole region right would take a large chunk of your lifetime, but at least one full week is necessary to even see the highlghts.
Whatever you do will be rewarded, so enjoy.

Bozeman is in an area with great potential for photography. Yellowstone, Tetons and Glacier national parks are relatively nearby. And there are national forest lands all around.
If you mean like tomorrow, Yellowstone is not fully accessible by car in the winter. You can enter through Gardner, but your access will be very limited. There are ways to get around in the park including snowmobile and snowcat tours. Also, the springs have less color in the winter due to the more rapid cooling of the water.
Second, while Glacier is on my list of places to visit, they suffered a good amount of damage to the road system from a heavy fall storm. I believe a large section of Going to the Sun road was washed out. I'm not sure what their winter road closure status is like. I would check the NPS website or better, call the park.
If you plan to go in the summer, the Beartooth Mountains, north of Yellowstone are very photogenic. Here is a link to a writeup on the area. Link

If you want to go into YNP, the road from Gardiner to the NE enterance, Cooke City, stays open year round. Mammoth Hot Springs would be great in the winter! And Lamar Valley as well.
