Please believe me when I tell you this is not photoshopped in any way.
Thanks again to you all for your wonderful and awe inspiring images. My husband's credit cards thank you, too
Hi Lynda - this is a very entertaining shot. could be used as a right-guard advertisement
Not my best technically but this was the first time I got close to wolves so it is special. Taken with Canon 1Ds2 and 100-400 IS lens this fall in Denali, Alaska .http://www.pbase.com/wfr2/image/67527520.jpg

After so many wonderful shots in this thread I hasitated to post anything but here it goes. This is not my best pic from the past year, but it is special to me cause it was taken during my first outing with my new camera and a lens. A friend of mine spotted this little owl, I wouldn't even notice it if it wasn't for him... and he turns to me, signaling me to be very quiet, and points above his head. And there it was... little owl looking at us from above. So I point my camera, take one shot... review it, all blury... s***t... I quickly changed settings, pushed to iso 1600, with flash, took another shot... right after that the owl flies away. I review the second shot, and wooohoo, it worked!
I've really enjoyed all these wonderful photos! This was my first year with my camera and I've had such a fun time with it. The part I love the best is that it has opened my eyes to the beauty that surrounds us. I've always been an animal lover, but am now seeing things I'd never noticed before and its been a joy. This is my sentimental favorite of the year. A baby chickadee taken in Montana this summer at our cabin in the woods. Been going up there for 30 years and never noticed these little guys!
It's been a couple of months since I've had time to post and I miss everyone. Work has moved into the fast lane and leaves little time for anything else. Don't know that this is the best but is a recent shot I haven't posted yet.
While nowhere near the quality of the rest of you here is my contribution. I noticed these guys while walking down a path in Northern WI so I headed back for the camera.
As others have said, there are some really fantastic images here.
Scott - I remember that bear cub.
I couldn't decide on my best, so here are my 14 favorites..... :worried:
This was taken on a frozen lake in Northern Manitoba. I had to get low on the ice to give the effect and background I was going for. Bear was about 40 meters away.
As others have said about their photos it likely is not my best, but it carries some emotional inertia that pulls it up my list. And my wife is getting tired of my bird photos.
I had some really good flight shots this year, but I really like this image of sandhill cranes coming in for the night...I guess as the old saying goes "you had to be there" to understand
