A couple of AirVentures ago I was shooting a shot similar to this one. I was down in the ditch between ward me, 18R and the taxiway shooting two C-47s in a formation launch, the one on my side had a right brake lock up about the time the tail came up and my viewfinder was suddenly filled with the nose of a 47 headed through the grass for me. I scrambled for cover as she came through the grass toward me, I looked over my shoulder to see gear collapsing and props throwing dirt. Got some great shots though!
Sobering for all of us to think about the difference 24 hours can make in our lives and the lives of those who love us. Reminds me that I'm only here for a short time, eternity is, well, eternal. Puts lifes choices in perspective in a hurry.
I'm finally going over my shots with eyes that aren't blurred by sunscreen and persperation, compounded by exhaustion. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with my MKIII. The shots that aren't razor sharp can traced to experimenting with slower shutter speeds and a 1.4 TC.
This 25 raced by and I shot it from the hip at 125th at about 10fps, the majority of the frames are this sharp....
I have been following this thread for a while now and - like the others who have joined in - I am amazed at the photography presented here. Although I am not a pilot, I enjoy seeing aircraft and went to EAA Airventure on Friday while visiting my home state. Here are a few photos from the day. This was my first outing with my new 70-200 f4L IS lens. It was an unfortunate and sad day with the collision on the runway.
