I'm mustering my courage to take this little bipe around the patch. We went out the other evening to get a bit more familiar with each other on the ground.
I'm traveling tomorrow evening, and will be out of touch for a few days. So you all finally have a little peace and quiet coming!
But also, I have a question: I already have my airline tickets to both Oshkosh and the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends. Where are we at the moment on getting together, or shooting together, or doing something/anything together, at either or both of those events?
P.S. Our next target is 100,000 page views. Find some great pictures to post, everyone!
This weekend marked the Chino, CA Planes of Fame airshow and as the feature of the show this year they has 3 P-38 Lightnings flying in the show.
I took a huge amout of shots at thsi show and have only barely scratched the surafce of them..
Here is just one shot of one of the P-38's that were flying this weekend.
Thay also had the Glacier Girl.. The P-38 that was buried in the glacier in Greenland and recovered and restored to flying condition. The plane consists of 80% of its original parts now. It will be flown to England in June of this year on the same route it took when it was forced to land. (Pictures of this plane to follow)

Nice capture! I had hoped to be somewhere near POF's show so I could attend but alas, someone threw money at me to go to the opposite coast. The Chino Boys are fine folks and always put on a great display. There's something about the light on the west coast too, sweet light lasts longer in the morning and begins earlier in the afternoon it seems. In the days of film I had to be very careful about switching from Velvia to Fujichrome 100 as the light warmed. Velvia would just take that warmth over the top if you shot it at the times we would normally consider peak.
This was an overcast afternoon at my Buddy Joe's. I almost didn't drag my Canon out, look how saturated the images are. Technique gets much more important in these low light situations, but the results can be pretty cool.

Sure was great seeing you at the Cub Gathering. Sorry we didn't get to spend more time together. I'm afrid the GML 2007 is going to be bittersweet for the very same reason. Maybe we can all get together for dinner one evening when we're all shot out!
I sure did see that, I love that shot. I was tempted to fly around and do a low pass but with that many birds around I figured it wasn't that good of an idea. It was my brothers leg to fly anyway. I'm here in Rockwall until mid-August, if you've got some free time or need a hand with anything give me a shout.
Here's my Buddy Tom in his Oshkosh ride. Can you imagine holding that whole event and all it's moving parts together? That would kind of take the fun out of it for me!
