Dan, that sounds like a great idea. Are you familiar with the area and know of a reasonable place with enough room for all?
btw - i used to think i was a bass player... I have a 71 Gibson Les Paul Recording, a 78 Fend P and a Curbo Fretless... plus a beat up old 64 Bassman that just cooks! (among other things) I keep thinking i'll get it out and play again but between golf and shooting picts - i have little time to enjoy myself!
Jon,You ever want to sell the '64 Bassman or PBass let me know!!..No I am not from the area BUT I have a lifelong friend that is. I will contact her for advice.
Actually, I have not been playing in a long while due to "other vices" like photography. In fact we have a few celebrity bass players as members here on FM. Bass player, Jules, and co-founder of the 60-70's group "The Association", fellow Marylander and personal friend and neighbor Scott from "Spyro Gyra" I still do some session work locally(DC,MD,Va,Pa) but very little.
I will let you and Jim know what I find.
Dan
By the way, anyone with experience shooting a Red Bull Air Race please share comments and tips, since I'll be making the 12-hour round-trip drive to see it this Saturday at Monument Valley.

Since GML2007 has 10-person boxes, why don't we figure out who's going for sure and then just get a box? I can commit firmly to going... who else?
As I said I'll be there Fri-Sun. I find that wandering around I get much better pics than I would get in the stands, or a box. Hell the past two years at Reno, I never once sat in my grandstand seat. If we can get public access like at Oshkosh we will all be set.
By the way, this is a must attend event for those that can afford it. This is never going to happen again, NEVER. Jimmy Leeward has just made it public that they are trying to get the fully race modified Mustang the Galloping Ghost ready for Reno, and the gathering. This airplane has raced for SIXTY years!!! Fully race modified, it can be a Gold contender this year.
The organizers of GML have just announced several levels of access. You can find the info on the website. The opportunities are going to be fairly pricey, but this isn't going to happen real often. I think The Legends Club is around $350.00 a day and that pass will allow some pretty special access.

Yikes!!, I may do this for one of the three days since this is so special, but the other two I think I'll have to wander with my General Admin ticket, and eat bread and water!!
Jim and fellow attendees, I am in contact with "Event Coordinator" Angela for maybe some "special access" priviledges for FM'ers.
I will keep everyone informed. The $350 per day is a bit pricey..if it were the whole event then that would be "do-able". This is my 1st aviation event so any help, both on and off the tarmac I can get would be appreciated. Plus a dinner or lunch with you guyz would be great!!
Maybe Jim can lend some advice
Dan
One day I will visit a big air show again. (last time I did I was almost 2 decades ago, I was 13, went to a local airshow and had my dad's Canon AE-1 Program with Panagor 70-210 manual focus push-pull zoom and a single 36-exposure roll.) Right now I really don't have either time, gear or financial means...
I just found this thread and spent way too much (but well worth it) time checking all the awesome photos. Great stuff everyone. I'll throw a recent photo...
Great! I'll call Angela and see where they are on the subject.
JW
Any/all help is appreciated Jim. Angela did provide me with another Media Coordinator but I left his email and contact info on my office email at work. Hopefully I will have word from him on Tuesday when I return to the office.

Lyn Freeman is the credentials go to guy. That's where the media link on the website will take you. I'm on assignment all next week but I'll try to talk to Lyn and see what their thinking is. I've gotten the impression that actual credentials are going to be pretty tight.
Its just amazing got this link from the Fencecheck website and what a great photo's.
The P51 is one of my favorite planes.
I'am not yet finished reading the topic i'am on page 102 now.
But its 0115 overhere now and i'am going to sleep returning to this topic in the morning.
Jim i only can say keep up the good work and keep on posting those great pictures.
I'am a amateur aviation photographer.
This year i will be attending the Reno Airraces for the second time and i will be at the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends i can say only this that i am gonna totaly flip when i see 100+ Mustangs.
Greetings from the Netherlands ( yes you also have fans overthere)
I just wanted to say that... I hate you all ...aaaaand you make me sick.
I'm trying REAL hard to get there. I'm picking up a 70-200 2.8 VR for this summer's aviation fun. Currently I haven't done much air-to-air photos, but I have done a bit of ground-to-air and air-to-ground... even a trip over the Grand Canyon. Hopefully this year I'll find the right pilots and planes to do an air-to-air.
Here's one from airshow last year... below the tree tops.
Here's a pan from last weekend at the airport. A little crosswind landing.
Nice catch! In the second shot, if you have a good eye, you can see that they removed the "eyebrow" windows above the cockpit which are on all later 737 models (post 2003/4). This is to save (maintenance) costs. Southwest have converted only a few A/C, but more are to follow.
