Beautiful image! White background is great. Focus is right on the eyes (well,
on some of them ) . Was the spider moving towards you? You must have
been quick, or did you train it?

Hi and thanks for those comments. To be perfectly honest, I was doing some serious cat herding (for about 3o minutes of shooting). I was trying hard not to hurt the little guy (or gal) and I had many moments where I was just about manually focused, and he would charge off in some escape route. At low res like this it doesn't do justice, but some larger shots are here:

He is sitting on a large white foam board with some halogen lights overhead. Minimum focus distance was about 4 inches or so.

Yes, the bigger one is really smashing! I think the
white background adds a certain sci-fi-like creepiness.
