Great idea and great shot. How did you get them all to go in a straight line? Are there hidden wires?
I like the Title. A comedic bent, and the title is appropriate, right from the Marx Brothers classic, " A day at the races" .

Hey, great to hear you all like the shot. It took me a bit of time to come up with it, but when the idea hit me I knew I had to do it!!
As for my friendly critters.. they're just coming out in droves right now! I guess with the cool weather and my 15 or so Tomato plants, they can't resist. I basically just rounded them up and thanked them for their services after. Believe it or not, they were really easy to work with. I just put them on their track and used my fingers as guides. Since they're so slow, and dislike light, they were pacing nicely.
Tynorth, you're right-on on the name. I'm a HUGE marx brothers fan and the title just hit me without even having to think about it.
Thanks again for the support! Escargot on the house (kidding).

'Agree with all the comments above.....just a superbly executed shot and a great idea as well. I love the faint trail behind the winner, the white tones are very nice, and the composition is perfect. I've learned a few things from this image!!
thanks

wow...my first thought was this was too good to have been done this week. Just seems like all the really good shots we see lately were taken at other times (honest mistake or not). Its good to see a really well thought out shot that has great execution as well.
BUT I must add one negative comment. Whoever did the lane asignments really must be a newbie. Don't they know that the fastest entrants go in the middle lanes and the outside lanes are for the slower racers! Hmmmm, the fix is on.

I'm really glad that everyone likes it.
