Great shot idea but needs more pain. Maybe a bloodstain around the corner of the mouth? Just a thought ..
Sorry, but no way. This is a great image, and the pain lies in the expression that we can see even through the fabric.
Suse, this is great. I had the idea of doing an abstract of an image similiar to "The Scream"--but didn't know exactly how to pull it off. This is a great depiction, abstract of pain. As you so woefully put it--the human condition. I rather think that the human condition is more of a smile--but oh well, that is another discussion

I always look forward to your entries, knowing that they be interesting and unusual. This is a splendid entry, complex in its simplicity, leaving the nature of the pain (physical or mental), and the degree of the pain, to the imagination and interpretation of the viewer. This is a finalist for sure!

Hi Jane
Yes, I was trying to get a more abstract take on the theme. After a lot of playing around, I decided I didn't want a literal wound, but would try for something more philosophical. With all the things I've been seeing on the tv news of late, I'm not too sure the human condition is a smile.

Thanks Robert. I always appreciate your comments. I actually did a needle and surgical glove shot first, but the Dan posted his shot, so I had to give up on explicit pain and go back to the drawing board.
Suse......I like this image very much....it feels inspiring to me, but not because it's a nicely detailed B&W with good composition, or because of the expression on the face (that i can't really make out). It's the way you've captured and presented the human condition, unable to get out of it's wraps, unable to connect with others and left in a solitary uncommunicative and ultimately painful state. It's universal.
Great job....in my opinion great art. I'm inspired.................
(all i could think of doing was pretend to burn myself)
