Almost perfect! I have only two minor criticisms. I see that Art has mentioned one, and schmutz describes it perfectly. I also would like to see a tiny bit more space on the top. The glass sculpture comes a little close to "hanging" from the edge of the frame. Maybe not, maybe that's silly. Anyway, I love the photo!
There is a Chihuly exhibition all summer.... if there was ever a WA for me to enter it was this one! I went back this week to make sure I was within the correct time frame for this week's assignment.
Here's a link to more pics from the Botanical Gardens if you are interested...
Chihuly designed three trophies for the Ginn Clubs and Resorts Open outside Orlando. There were Walla Wallas on the water between the 7th tee and green. One of them went missing and was feared stollen, until they found it at the bottom of the pond.
I didn't get a good look at them there, but the trophies were gorgous as well as the glassware in the hospitality tent and the "Red Reeds" installed along the 18th fairway.
I agree that this is a stunning image - this assignment is shaping up as a shootout between Chihuly pieces The image is made more dramatic, I think, by the almost-clash between the dominant blue and the green glass. For what it is worth, the top of the glass is too close to the top of the frame - this is something I have become much more sensitive about after learning to frame my prints for display. That dang matte overlap has caught me in cases like this too often, and left me disappointed in what I had thought was a great photo.
Outstanding image amongst a field of beautiful photos. Apparently if some of the others had taken the shot, they would make different choices, but that in itself is what makes this art. I hope you keep it as you posted it.
Don't worry, I will keep it as posted. Mainly because any attempt at 'fixing' it would only be a demonstration of my poor Photoshop skills..... and believe me, we wouldn't want that!
I really like this WA... there are some fantastic images!
