Asher,

i am living in Munich. But i will move to Cologne in july. I would be happy to meet you - so should you happen to come to Bavaria (you should), feel free to contact me.

I'll be in Prague June 27th and I gather that is a short train ride to Munich. When in July will you be moving?

Oh, i am afraid, that doesn't look too good: I am in Tuscany from the 22nd to the 29th and on my way to Cologne on the 1st of July (my job starts on monday, the 3rd). But Prague is lovely! I loved it there. A lot to be photographed. Are you making a trans-Europe-tour? You could go to Solms and take the excellent Leica-Factory tour - they are letting visitors having a glance at the M 8 (new digital M). And in September there is the Photokina in Colonge - i'll be there for sure! So if we don't meet in Munich, that would be another possibility.

Thanks, Moritz.

A pity!

How far is Cologne from Prague or Budapest?

Also where is Solms?

I'd love to see the M8! Do we have specifications yet? I'd love to do a sneak preview for OPF!

Just an idea: would not be better to have just the stack of contacts on a plastic support (and maybe keep it up with screws instead of glue), and put the "chip" on the free rest of the adapter or maybe (even better in some possible case) outside, perhaps on a support to place in the bottom of the camera that can be reused with every lens?

Works beautifully with my Contax 35mm 2.8, however surgery is needed for the 50mm 1.7.
Think my Nikons also need surgery.

Its the little hump part that gets in the way of most lenes. Esp the aperture lever

I've done it with a kawaphoto Leica-R adaptor. Positioning and glueing is fiddly and prone to error but I got it working on my 300D. Doesn't seem to work at the moment on my 1DMK2. Need to investigate more to see if it's not aligning with the camera contacts.

I have just received one of these and it works very well if it will fit.
So far I've used it exclusively on the 28-85mm f3.3-4 Vario Sonnar (though I know it will fit others).
You do need to attach the adapter to the lens first, then glue the chip to the adapter. It is a great help.

Unfortunately the hump that gets in the way of the aperture lever also prevents the chip being used at all on certain lenses.
The lenses I most wanted it for (difficult focussing) were the 85mm f1.2 and the 100-300mm f4.5-5.6. Sadly both of these lenses have an additional "fin" next to the aperture lever, and this means the chip will not fit at all.

It would be wonderful if the next generation of this chip were to be without the hump so it could be used on these lenses.
Is that going to be possible?

you simply did not read any remarks and documentation I think, with this camera you need to add a little pin to your adapter.

everything is shown here:
additional pin for 1D, 1Ds, EOS 5 etc.

almost no chance, at the moment this module uses the smallest chip available on the market, it was announced a few months ago and a first version of a module used a bigger version.

Thanks for the link it is very helpful. Actually I'm not so concerned about the adaptor with my 1DMK2 anyway as the Ec-B focus screen and large viewfinder are very good. It's the 300D where I needed help and I'm happy to say the adaptor is perfect for my use with that camera.

UPDATE:

I just ordered two more chips from Matvey (tsmv) - one went into a M42 adapter and the other went onto my Zeiss 28/2.8/Son adapter.

Since I don't plan on removing the adapter from the lens, I didn't have a problem with the aperture lever. If I were, I definitely would need to remove the lever.

Perfect AF confirmation on my Leica, Takumar and Zeiss - I'm psyched!!!
